Cantina Avanti is a space to socialise, discuss and learn as working class people, to rekindle the flame of self-emancipation and mutual aid.
The working class movement creates its spaces for socialising, self-education and organisation of struggle. From the proletarian taverns in the docklands to communal kitchens in the neighbourhoods to inner-city street corners. We take inspirations from the Case del Popolo in Italy or the new Independent Labor Clubs in the USA.
We come from different political backgrounds, some of us are anarcho-syndicalists, others are influenced by Italian Workers’ Autonomy and feminism, others are active within Marxist-Leninist organisations.
What we share is the idea that we, as workers and comrades, need spaces for spirited chats and open debates. We feel that there is a lack of such spaces in Bristol. We are looking forward to hanging out with you and to your ideas and contributions.
